The Daintree Rainforest Observatory (DRO) is located in Cape Tribulation. Here's a view of Mt Sorrow from the grounds. Honestly, my photography doesn't do it justice. The clouds are always doing something interesting around the mountain, and I would often find myself stopping in the middle of whatever I was doing to watch for a few minutes.

The town is home to about 300 full time residents and a large number of transient backpackers. There's an amazing restaurant (Whet), a hostel, a small grocery store, and a few other tourist things. But mainly the attractions are the fabulous scenery. The tagline for the area is "where the rainforest meets the reef," and you get the best of both worlds: beautiful creeks surrounded by rainforest that feed directly into pristine beaches.
Of course, you can't get into the water, because if the heart-stopping jelly fish don't get you, the saltwater crocodiles might. Australia: land of beauty and danger.
